The Sussex Girls Development Squad enjoyed a recent training weekend at the English Regional Performance Centre at the Golf At Goodwood Academy, West Sussex.

Coached by Kerry Knowles, former English Ladies Champion and Ladies European Tour player the girls were put through their paces with a selection of short game skill tests as well speciifc focus on course management, club selection and yardage decision making.

Kerry Knowles said: “My experience on tour has taught me the value of a holistic approach to coaching to enable players to reach their full potential whilst keeping it fun. This is increadibly important when coaching the Sussex Girls Development squad as they need to continue to enjoy playing and practicising but in a slightly more structured and thoughtful way”.

Kerry also had assistance from former Sussex 1st team player and PGA professional Amy Yeates and Amber Cockram who is current Sussex 1st team player and previous Junior Captain.

Amy Yeates said: "It is wonderful to give back to the county and particularly help the development squad as these girls are the future senior 1st team players. We are very proud at Goodwood to have amazing facilities and coaches to really develop and inspire the next generation."
