Available from 10am tomorrow! To celebrate the return of the British Masters to The European Tour, more than 15,000 free tickets will be available for the opening round as part of ‘Sky Sports Thursday'.

Golf fans can watch some of the world’s top golfers for FREE this October when the British Masters supported by Sky Sports takes place at Woburn Golf Club. ‘Sky Sports Thursday’ is one of a range of initiatives from The European Tour and Sky Sports to help attract a new audience to golf alongside established fans.

From 10am tomorrow, Friday April 24, Sky customers will be able to take advantage of an exclusive 48 hour ‘pre-sale’ giving them first option on the free ticket offer for round one of the British Masters supported by Sky Sports, which takes place on Thursday 8 October. The remaining free tickets for ‘Sky Sports Thursday’ will then be made available to non-Sky customers via www.sky.com/tickets from 10am on Sunday April 26 when tickets for Friday to Sunday will also go on general release jointly via www.europeantourtickets.com and www.sky.com/tickets.

Poulter, the 12-time European Tour winner who has a long-term association with host venue Woburn Golf Club, today welcomed the ticketing announcement and urged spectators of all golfing backgrounds and abilities to experience the British Masters.

He said: “This is a brilliant idea and it is a fantastic way for Sky Sports and The European Tour to follow through on their promise to appeal to golf fans and attract more visitors. The British Masters is going to be a great event and the fact that the first day’s play will be free means that anyone can get a ticket and come to Woburn to watch some of the world’s top golfers in action on a stunning golf course.

The British Masters supported by Sky Sports is back on The European Tour International Schedule for the first time in seven years. It will be the 17th time Woburn Golf Club has hosted the British Masters, with the event returning to the Marquess Course for the first time since 2002, when Justin Rose memorably held off the challenge of Poulter to win the prestigious title.

Jamie Birkmyre, Championship Director of the British Masters supported by Sky Sports, said: “Sky Sports Thursday is a superb initiative aimed at widening the audience for the tournament and the game in general. We are looking forward to working closely with Sky Sports, and with Ian Poulter, on making the tournament a huge success and hopefully it will capture the imagination of the British public. Spectators can also take advantage of a special combined ticketing offer for the British Masters and the Travis Perkins Masters, meaning they can watch two terrific events at Woburn this autumn.”

Previous winners of the British Masters at Woburn Golf Club include Major Champions Greg Norman (1981), Lee Trevino (1985), Seve Ballesteros (1986 and 1991), Sandy Lyle (1988), Sir Nick Faldo (1989) Ian Woosnam (1994) and Rose (2002).

Any one day tickets for Friday to Sunday cost £20 (£10 concession) before May 31 or £25 (£15 concession) before October 4. The full gate price is £30.

Adult season tickets cost £50 (£25 concession) before May 31, or £65 (£35 concession) before October 4. The full gate price for a season ticket is £75.

Combined tickets are available allowing spectators substantially discounted entry to both the British Masters supported by Sky Sports and the European Senior Tour’s Travis Perkins Masters, which takes place on Woburn Golf Club’s Duke’s Course from September 4-6.
