Connie Jaffrey (Troon Ladies), the 2013 Scottish Girls’ Champion, is in the Great Britain and Ireland team that will defend the Astor Trophy.

Played every four years and formerly known as the Commonwealth Tournament at the Greg Norman-designed course at Grange Golf Club, Adelaide in Australia January 12-16.

Ireland, Canada, New Zealand South Africa and hosts Australia are the other competing countries in the tournament.

Jaffrey, 18, has had an impressive couple of seasons. In the summer, she was runner-up in both the Scottish Amateur Championship and the Helen Holm Scottish Open Strokeplay Championship and she topped the 2014 Scottish Ladies’ and Scottish Girls’ Order of Merits.

The Ayrshire teenager is in her first year of a golf scholarship at Kansas State University and is enjoying a successful first year on the US College circuit.
