We recently reported that Dame Laura Davies has been keeping busy playing on the Rose Ladies Series and in a Cowdray charity event, and now this week the iconic golfer will be competing on the Clutch Pro Tour Open Access Masters at Sunningdale Heath.
But this time, she's up against the guys as well as the girls.
Kicking off on Wednesday July 8 and bringing together players from LET and European Tour, the legendary golfer will be joined by other big names from the women's game such as long-time pal Trish Johnson, Charley Hull, Meghan MacLaren, Amy Bouldon, Annabel Dimmock, Rachel Drummond and Gabrielle Cowley.
Laura and Trish have been involved with the planning of the event since the beginning.
Clutch Pro Tour founder Tom Hayward said:
"Laura Davies and Trish Johnson have been fantastic getting behind the event. They put their names down really early on and have given us a lot of advice.
"We have 24 women signed up for Sunningdale so far including some really good players. We're going there partly because it's a quirky little golf course with shorter distances and it's not just about how far you hit it. We want to showcase the skill of the game, not just the raw power that it is so often focused on."
Laura and Trish are both very familiar with the track at Sunningdale. Just before lockdown began, they teed up together in the 86th edition of the Sunningdale Foursomes at the Berkshire club. This wasn’t the first time that Johnson and Davies competed in this prestigious event either. In 2001 Johnson and former European Tour player Jamie Spence came up just shy of winning the title, whilst in 2015, the star pairing of Laura Davies and Barry Lane lost at the quarterfinal stage.
Perhaps best of all, we will be able to watch Laura and the rest teeing off from home through the live stream from ContentLIVE Golf. To tune in all you need to do is visit the company's Facebook page.
In fact, there are two events on the mixed-gender tour this week with the Major 2 scheduled to take place at Golf at Goodwood on Friday (July 10).
So far on the series we've seen Charley Hull finish T9 at Notts Hollingwell and Meghan MacLaren and Felicity Johnson finish in the top 10 at Sandwell Park.
We're hopeful that this week will see even more success stories from the LET players.
We suggest cancelling any plans for Wednesday now so you settle in and stay glued to your phone/computer as the action unfolds.
