England’s Meghan MacLaren, who was one behind overnight, has taken the outright lead at the Jordan Mixed Open presented by Ayla.after a round of 7-under par today.
MacLaren made a great start to her second round with a birdie on her first hole, the 10th, carded a pair of birdies on the 13thand 14th and lipped out on the 15th before picking up a fourth birdie on the long 17th to make the turn at 11-under, one stroke behind Huizing.
Looking calm and composed, she then sank a four-foot putt for her fifth birdie of the day on the par-4 third hole to join Huizing in the lead under clear blue skies at Ayla Golf Club.
Daan Huizing from the Netherlands is in the clubhouse on 12-under-par and the 23-year-old from Zwolle is four clear of Paul Streeter and Jack Streeter after carding a 68 in a northerly breeze this morning.
Huizing, a two-time European Challenge Tour tournament winner was three clear of the field after opening with a pair of birdies, but dropped a shot on the par-5 ninth hole to make the turn in one-under. He then added three more birdies on the back nine.
Of the other LET members in the mix, the 2018 Rookie of the Year, Julia Engstrom, was in the clubhouse on five-under-par after a second round 70.
The Swede, who turned 18 last week, birdied the 11th, bogeyed the 12th and birdied the 13th and 17th, then double bogeyed the 18th, but then birdied the second and sixth holes.
This week’s tournament is the first time that her mum, Jeanette, hasn’t caddied and she has her new manager, Madeleine Zeigert, on the bag.
