A 8-under-par 64 catapulted Charley Hull into a tie for third after round two of the TOTO Japan Classic on Friday, five behind leader and defending champion Shanshan Feng.

Hull, who captured last year’s CME Group Tour Championship for her first LPGA Tour title, is looking for win No. 2 this week as she signed for a bogey-free round on Saturday. She said the Minori Course at the Taiyeiho Club is playing ‘so pure’ right now, and admitted although she left some shots out there Friday, she was happy with her round. Hull started her day with a birdie before making eagle on the par-5 2nd, chipping it in from about 10 yards away.

“Before I hit it I thought to myself, ‘I’m going to hole this’ and then I did – it was quite funny,” said Hull.

The 21-year-old sits five shots back of Feng’s lead going into the final round.
