Ten of Britain’s most picturesque and challenging amateur golf holes have been shortlisted to be crowned the UK’s best, as online voting now begins for golfers to choose their favourite.

The winning club will earn the title of The UK’s Greatest Amateur Hole in the grass roots campaign organised by BusinessInsuranceFor.com, which provides business insurance services for golf and other sports clubs.

The campaign aims to shine the spotlight on lesser known golf clubs across the UK. In addition to the prestigious title, the winning club will receive a commemorative plaque, while the golfer who nominated the hole will win a Scotty Cameron putter worth up to the value of £280. BusinessInsuranceFor.com will also donate £500 on behalf of the winning golf club to The Golf Foundation charity, which is committed to helping encourage more young people to take up the game.

Now the nation’s golfers must vote for their favourite golf hole by voting online at https://www.businessinsurancefor.com/grass-roots-golf-award before 12pm Thursday 1st December and choose from the following Top 10 finalists:

Brickendon Grange Golf Club, Hertford (17th)
Easingwold Golf Club, York (18th)
Murrayfield Golf Club, Edinburgh (10th)
The Bruntsfield Links, Edinburgh (16th)
Robin Hood Golf Club, Solihull (16th)
Toft Country House Hotel and Golf Club, Toft in Lincolnshire (18th)
Langley Park Golf Club, London (10th)
Rusper Golf Course, Dorking in Surrey (14th)
Merchants of Edinburgh Golf Club, Edinburgh (13th)
Epping Golf Course, Epping in Essex (12th)

The winning entry will be based on the highest number of public votes, coupled with the decision of an expert independent judging panel, comprising; Brendon Pyle, Chief Executive of The Golf Foundation, Michael Coffey, Publisher at The Golf Club Secretary, and Traviss Willcox, Editor of Golf Today.

Kevin MacKenzie, Head of Affinity Operations for BusinessInsuranceFor.com, commented:

“With famous golf holes at major clubs often claiming all the plaudits, we wanted to champion the lesser-known golf clubs around the UK which have some spectacular holes.
“After some great nominations it’s now up to the public and our independent judging panel to decide the winner, so we urge everyone to vote online to increase the chances of their favourite amateur golf hole being crowned the UK champion.''
