Female Club Captain At South Kyme Golf Club

South Kyme Golf Club have announced that Ms Carole Fewings has taken over as Club Captain for the 2020/2021 season. South Kyme is one of the first golf clubs in Lincolnshire to have a female Club Captain.

Carole was presented with her Captain’s Blazer by the outgoing Captain, Ray Duncan and officially “Drove-in” on Sunday 15th March 2020.

Carole, 61, lives in Ruskington with her partner John and is a chef at St. Georges Academy, Sleaford. She has two married daughters and a grand-daughter. She started playing golf in 2007 after not having played any sports at all since PE in school as “something to do as the girls got older and left home” and Peter Chamberlain, the South Kyme Golf Club Professional & Director of Golf, was giving free lessons. Carole has served the club in many capacities since she joined including the Junior Section Organiser/Chairperson, the 1st Female Captain of the Rabbits Section (16+ handicaps) in 2012 and has served on several of the club’s committees.

Carole is delighted to be elected Club Captain and said, “It is a great honour to be elected Club Captain. It is still very rare for a woman to be elected to such a prominent position in a golf club and I hope this will encourage more women to take on this role in other clubs."

"I am hoping my time as Captain will encourage more people, particularly women, to involve themselves in our sport."

South Kyme Golf Club is located between Boston and Sleaford and has been nominated as one of the top ten best golf clubs in Lincolnshire. It is a very friendly club and has many sections for players of all ages and abilities.

If you are interested in finding out more about Carole or what the Club has to offer please contact Peter Chamberlain, Director of Golf, at South Kyme Golf Club.
