Clodagh Coughlan (Douglas) and Aoife Ni Thuama (Douglas) saw off 20 pairs to make it a double in the National final of the May Fitzgibbon Trophy.

The pair stole the show with a tremendous 39 points, off a playing handicap of 8, to win by 5 points from Enniscrone’s Ailbhe Bourke and Co. Sligo’s Niamh Cronin.

Four pairs from each district final qualified for the event, which was held at Greystones Gof Club, including Katie Keenan and Sarah Burke (Kilkenny & Mullingar Golf Club) who also scored 34 points but finished third on countback.
