One of the UK's leading amateur golf competitions will culminate in a grand final in Marrakech next February after its main sponsor pledged support for a further year.
The Morocco Matchplay, powered by HowDidiDo, is once again being sponsored by the Moroccan National Tourist Office (MNTO), and is, this year, also celebrating a partnership with British Airways, which will see finalists flown to Marrakech from Gatwick Airport in some style.
Entries are now open for the competition which has won many plaudits from competitors and media alike.
Previously, the Morocco Matchplay, powered by HowDidiDo - formerly the HowDidiDo Matchplay - was played in Rabat, in 2015, and Essaouira, earlier this year. And, as part of the continued partnership with the MNTO, the competition continues to visit different areas of the beautiful North African country.
Thousands of UK golfers will battle it out this summer to qualify for northern and southern regional finals - which will take place in October - with a total of 36 finalists fighting it out for four titles: better-ball pairs, mixed pairs, senior pairs and singles.
The 2016 competition culminates with a grand final in Marrakech, for which each lucky finalist will receive complimentary return British Airways flights from Gatwick Airport; five nights' luxury bed-and-breakfast accommodation; four rounds of championship golf; a welcome cocktail reception; and a last-night gala dinner and prize presentation.
Not only do competitors have a wonderful final experience to play for, they will be able to register at 2015 prices, as the entry fees for the contest have been held at the same cost - ￡5 lower than 2014. Entry costs ￡45 for all pairs' categories, and ￡25 for singles. An additional 20 per cent discount is available when entering more than one category.
Barry Dyett, a director of event promoter Incredible Golf, added: "We are hugely grateful to the continued patronage of the Moroccan National Tourist Office and also to our friends at British Airways for their support with flights. Our two partners are ideally suited: Morocco is an ideal all-year-round destination and a fabulous playground for golf lovers, while British Airways is the perfect airline with which to fly direct to Marrakech.
"We'd like to thank both of them for their support and also for giving amateur golfers such a tremendous opportunity."
The competitions are open to both men and women - seniors need to be aged 50 or over on June 13, 2016, when entries to all categories will close.
Entries for the Morocco Matchplay, powered by HowDidiDo, are now open at www.moroccomatchplay.co.uk and closing date for registration is June 13.
