Scottish international Eilidh Briggs (Kilmacolm), handicapped by injury last year, showed she is just about back to her best by winning the Renfrewshire women's county golf championship for a fourth time in very wintry conditions at East Renfrewshire Golf Club.

She beat Jennifer Rankine (Haggs Castle) by 3&2 in the final after par golf gave her a four-hole lead at the turn. Rankine rallied to win the 10th with a birdie and then the 12th but she drove out of bounds at the 14th which Briggs birdied to go three up. Halves in par at the 15th and 16th ended the match.
Rankine beat leading qualifier and several times past champion Donna Jackson (Cochrane Castle) by 4&3 in the morning semi-finals when Briggs beat home course player Gillian Kyle by the same margin.

Semi-finals - Jennifer Rankine (Haggs Castle) bt Donna Jackson (Cochrane Castle) 4 and 3; Eilidh Briggs (Kilmacolm) bt Gillian Kyle (East Renfrewshire) 4 and 3.
Final - Briggs bt RankinE 3 and 2.
