Talented girl golfers from England Golf’s regional squads have again been invited to take on the tournament challenge of WPGA professionals.
Girls from the U16 and U18 regional squads will have the opportunity to gain tournament experience by playing alongside the professionals in six events on the WPGA’s popular One Day Series.
They’ve already made their mark in past seasons. Hertfordshire’s Becca Earl of Bishops Stortford won two events last year, while in 2014 Megan Clarke (Cleckheaton & District) and Charlotte West (Harewood Downs) were both winners.
Rebecca Hembrough, the England Golf Performance Manager for women’s golf, commented:
“England Golf is delighted that the WPGA is again opening up spaces at these events and supporting our regional programme.
“The experience is invaluable and gives the girls a fantastic opportunity to compete and to learn from the way the professional players approach the game.”
The 2016 series of seven day events will run from May to August and will take place at Little Aston, Staffordshire, on 9 May; Dunham Forest, Cheshire, on 25 May; Three Rivers, Essex, on 3 June; Kedleston Park, Derbyshire, on 27 June; Salisbury & South Wilts on 7 July; Chestfield, Kent, on 22 July; and South Herts on 10 August.
Entry will be for up to 10 amateur players per event with a maximum handicap requirement of four.
